Two monochrome modern masterpieces of interior design are the subject of our admiration today. Whispers of lightest grey tint the walls of these two elegant abodes, creating airy open rooms and quiet elegance. High-end modern furniture designs shape each room with understated yet unmistakable luxury, set out thoughtfully in a reserved and minimalistic approach. 19th century Parisian architecture throws grand archways over the interior design of one interior, whereas modern gypsum wall panels inject new interest into the other. Each are impressive in their own individual style. Despite the grandeur, the homes exude a relaxed atmosphere, like a luxurious holiday villa or a penthouse hotel suite.

The Kennedy residence is an apartment in an impressive Gaussian building of the early 19th century, near Trocadero Square in Paris, France. The home has enviable views of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower. Its French owners work and travel a lot, spending time amazing places around the world, so their apartment had to be amazing too. The couple wanted splendour coupled with a relaxed atmosphere that would meet the same standards as hotels and villas they stay in whilst on their travels. A new vision of minimalist living style was employed, inspired by the home’s historical architecture.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 2

A perfectly imperfect decorative vase and bowl set dress the coffee table, beautiful in the wabi-sabi aesthetic, and sympathetic to the age of the building. Branches and blossoms bring a natural element to the room.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 3

The homeowners are a couple who enjoy hosting cocktail parties, so the free space in the house also serves a practical purpose, to accommodate many guests and fun times.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 4

The pale grey living room , and indeed the rest of the penthouse apartment, resides beneath grand stone arches inspired by the Versailles Greenhouse.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 5

A lantern pendant hangs from the vaulted ceiling in a traditional style that suits the building’s maturity. A three meter long fireplace is carved in natural marble; it’s gape opens into the floor and spreads throughout the apartment.

Light pours in from 360° views. The architecture creates light and shadows across plain walls.

Luxurious marble borders trim the hardwood floor of the living room.

The old grey, bronze and gold mosaic floor has been preserved in the hallway.

A traditional style wall sconce brings gentle light to the table.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 14

Whitewashed cabinet fronts and white marble give the kitchen an ethereal magic.

A more modern setting unfolds in home design number two. A modern sofa furnishes a more compact living room size, which is fashionably decorated with ribbed gypsum panels.

Unique wall lights stretch tall like floor lamps beside the sofa.

A Tom Ford coffee table book makes a chunky addition to the tray topped coffee tables. A comfortable lounge chair by the window offers a perfect spot in which to browse it.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 27

The swivel chair is balanced out with a small side table , which is topped with decorative vases and dried flowers to add height.

A round dining table , modern dining chairs and an unusual dining room chandelier set up shop between the kitchen and lounge spaces.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 30

The black kitchen faucet chimes the same dark note as the dining room chandelier.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 31

Black ceramics carry the base note to the table.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 32

The base units of the kitchen are actually suspended off the floor, and even extend past the end of the supporting wall, which gives the installation a weightless floating effect.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 33

A white chimney cooker hood sets a minimalist style.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 34

Ribbed panels stripe texture onto pale walls.

A large decorative wall mirror reflects natural light into a darkened area. An Atollo lamp lights the sideboard at night.

The Atollo lamp makes a bookend for a small library.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 37

A silver bedroom pendant light shines on a duo of small side tables.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 38

Frameless and edge-to-edge, a custom cut mirror increases the sense of space inside the bedroom.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 39

The bathroom is tiled in one consistent colour to increase the sense of space, though the format of the tile changes from wall to floor. A wall hung toilet pan keeps the floor looking spacious too.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 40

The vanity shelf and a vanity storage unit has also been picked out in a floating style - a common theme in this apartment. A set of bathroom vanity lights dangle by double banked mirrors, above a single sink.

When we think of interesting modern decor, shades of beige do not automatically come to mind. However, beige notes bring certain warmth to a modern room scheme. Popular wood panelling goes hand in hand with the beige tone too, with streaks of the colour melted through its texture. Today we’re looking at two home interiors, each measuring under 90 square metres, that shrugs off any blandness of beige. These relaxing spaces are sprung from calming beige but have added interest built via unique decorative form, in furniture, sculptural lighting and mood lighting. The rooms revel in additional bold colour infusions of grey, blue, red or yellow to add depth and layers.

The Paulina apartment is an 88 square metre home. The interior design combines natural textures and warm colors in assembling a holistic and cozy space, whilst geometric shapes and contemporary forms provide visual interest.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 42

Modern art adds a big injection of colour alongside a mature indoor plant. The rattan basket coincides with other natural ecological materials in the room, vibing with various textures of wood, relief plaster and smooth concrete.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 43

The simplicity of the space is what gives it its charm. The negative spaces are equally important to the positive. Note how a blank border has been created around the bright and fanciful sofa design, to allow the piece to breathe and be appreciated. The void also makes the windows a main focus of the room rather than a sideline.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 44

Softly curving outlines shape the sections of the sofa, a small side table and a pebble-like pouf .

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 45

Looking up to the ceiling, the lighting scheme is full of new wonders. Light tracks strike black lines around the border of the room, spotlights descend on stems down the hallway, and sculptural pendant lights cluster over the sofa.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 46

The coffee table book cover, Van Gogh by Rainer Metzger & Ingo F. Walther , seems to inspire the colour scheme.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 47

The sculptural pendant shades jostle like milky bubbles rising to the top of the open plan living room.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 48

A circular design shapes a linear chandelier duo in the kitchen diner area.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 49

One of the linear chandeliers is positioned directly above the countertop of the kitchen island , whilst the other lights the dining table extension.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 50

Beige terrazzo encases the entire island in speckled pattern.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 51

Terrazzo also carves out a kitchen sink in the matching countertop.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 52

The iconic Timo Sarpaneva casserole pot waits to be filled.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 53

Wonderfully soft mood lighting comes from recessed LEDs. The perimeter lights flood down wooden walls in the living room to accentuate their texture, and continue on down the hallway.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 54

Concrete floods the floor through the entire home, and builds a bespoke floor bed design in the master. Terrazzo planters are incorporated into the unique creation. Green indoor plants bring an emerald green colour accent.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 55

The same sculptural white pendant lights that bubble above the lounge also feature in the bedroom.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 56

The two bedroom pendant lights hover low over a glass bedside table.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 57

Another multicolour glass table overlaps the edge of the concrete bed base.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 58

Inside the bathroom, multicoloured glass makes the shower screen. Beige terrazzo patterns a modern vanity.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 59

Concrete steps lead up to the curvaceous shower enclosure.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 60

The top of the shower screen is smoothed off to continue the curve theme.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 61

The same wood tone and terrazzo build up a cohesive scheme to link every room in the home.

Modern wall lights glow softly by the vanity.

We go next to an 85 square metre apartment in Kyiv, Ukraine, where a beige modern sofa lands on a lemony area rug. A pale wood round coffee table melds with the colour of the couch, and a slender floor lamp acts as a visual stop between the lounge area and the hallway.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 66

The beige colourway flows into a kitchen diner at the opposite end of the open plan.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 67

Just like the lounge, all of the warm colour in the kitchen diner is restricted to the lower half of the room. Golden dining chairs encircle a chunky round dining table , in front of light wood kitchen cabinets. White kitchen tiles and a simplistic white dining room pendant light wash out the upper section.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 68

Tucked around the corner out of plain view, wood kitchen cabinets climb to greater heights. A glass vase of pampas grass stands tall on the table.

Two Monochrome Modern Masterpieces of Interior Design - 69

We go from a single yellow rug in the living room to all out yellow decor in the bedroom.
